Dr. Kimberly Walton earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from UCLA School of Medicine. She completed her internship at Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., and her residency at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York.

Dr. Walton assists women through pregnancy, labor and delivery – including high-risk deliveries due to conditions such as hypertension, preeclampsia, diabetes and placenta previa. Dr. Walton enjoys helping women with issues such as menstrual irregularities, menopausal symptoms and performs minimally invasive laparoscopic gynecologic surgeries, hysterectomies and ovary removal for benign conditions.

Even as a very young girl, Dr. Walton knew she wanted to help people. However, it wasn’t until her obstetrics rotation in medical school that she knew she had found her calling. From early on in medical school, she knew obstetrics and gynecology was a field she would enjoy. “While I knew delivering babies would be very rewarding, I never realized how much I would enjoy the other areas of this specialty, especially surgery,” said Dr. Walton. “Working with your hands to fix something is very satisfying.”

Dr. Walton has spent 25 years in private practices throughout Nevada and Southern California. In 2024, she started working for a locum tenens company delivering babies at Woodland Memorial Hospital and Barstow Community Hospital. The patients and staff at Barstow Community Hospital loved the way she listened to her patients’ concerns and made them feel comfortable to get the best possible outcome for them. The attraction was mutual. Dr. Walton appreciated how friendly Barstow Community Hospital staff was and willing to accommodate their patients’ specific needs and obtain resources for them.

“My philosophy is to listen to the patient and establish a relationship to work together on a plan of care. Collaboration is important,” she says. “I try to help women understand their bodies, disease processes, the risks and benefits of treatments to help them figure out the best way to get and stay healthy.” Dr. Walton added that her patients would describe her as friendly, approachable, and easy to communicate with.

Dr. Walton enjoys spending time with her children and family. In her spare time, she loves to swim, cross stitch and travel.
